Plantation Drive: Students Plant 200+ Saplings on Campus

March on our campus is plantation month. This year, under the banner of "Sanjhi Sabzi — Basti Hai Mufat" (Shared Greenery — Free Forever), students from every department joined faculty and groundskeeping staff in planting over 200 saplings across the 62-kanal campus.

The drive, organised by the Environmental Wellness Committee with support from the Punjab Forest Department, focused on indigenous species suited to the Muzaffargarh climate — neem, palm, jasmine, and seasonal vegetable plots in the science block courtyard.

Students worked in groups of three, each group taking ownership of a sapling — watering and tracking its growth through to the end of term. A QR-code marker was placed at each new plant linking to a digital log.

"We don't just plant trees — we hand each student responsibility for one. By April, our girls know their plant by name." — Faculty Coordinator, Environmental Committee

Why This Matters

Muzaffargarh sits in a region where summer heat and dust are part of daily life. The College's tree cover — built up over the last decade through annual drives like this one — has lowered surface temperatures across campus walkways and provided shaded study spots beside the lawn.

The next drive is scheduled for the start of the autumn term. All new students will be invited to take part during their orientation week.
